Charice Takes Home Favorite Asian Act Award at Nickelodeon’s 25th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards

Mega-stars including Katy Perry, Tim Tebow, Taylor Lautner, Big Time Rush, Selena Gomez, Kristen Stewart, LMFAO and Justin Bieber reigned as this year’s favorites, winning top honors at Nickelodeon’s 25th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards. Hosted by international superstar, and 10-time KCA winner Will Smith, the awards were broadcast from the Galen Center at USC in Los Angeles.

The Philippines also has reason to celebrate the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards because international singing sensation Charice has captured the inaugural Favorite Asian Artist Award, fending off some of the region’s hottest music stars including Korea’s global girl group Wonder Girls, Agnes Monica of Indonesia, and Yuna of Malaysia. "Millions of Charice's fans voted online, on mobile, on Facebook and on Twitter, showing us not only how popular she is across Asia, but also how active Nickelodeon’s audience in Asia is online,” said Syahrizan Mansor, Senior Director, Programming & On-Air, Nickelodeon SEA. “We couldn’t be happier for her or her fans, and congratulate Charice for winning the inaugural Favorite Asian Artist Awards.

The First Lady of the US Michelle Obama presented The Big Help Award to Taylor Swift. Other major winners were Adam Sandler for Favorite Movie Actor; Kristen Stewart for Favorite Movie Actress; Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked for Favorite Movie and Puss in Boots for Favorite Animated Movie. Taylor Lautner won top honors for Favorite Buttkicker and Katy Perry took home the blimp for Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie for her role of Smurfette in The Smurfs. For TV, Favorite TV Show went to Victorious; Favorite Reality Show to Wipeout; Favorite Cartoon to SpongeBob SquarePants; Favorite TV Actor to Jake Short; Favorite TV Actress to Selena Gomez and Funniest TV Sidekick to Jennette McCurdy


In music, top honors went to Selena Gomez for Favorite Female Singer; Big Time Rush for Favorite Music Group and Justin Bieber for Favorite Male Singer; while the track “Party Rock Anthem” by LMFAO won for Favorite Song. Most valuable players Tim Tebow and Danica Patrick won for Favorite Male Athlete and Favorite Female Athlete, respectively. The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series garnered Favorite Book and Just Dance 3 won for Favorite Videogame.


Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards is more global than ever in 2012, seen in over 300 million households around the world. The KCAs will premiere on the Nickelodeon Philippine channel on Saturday, April 14 at 10:00am, with repeats on Monday, April 16 at 6:00pm, Wednesday, April 18 at 12:00pm and on Friday, April 20 at 8:00pm.
